My Tumble Dryer Isn’t Turning
This is a common problem and it’s often due to a faulty drive belt, motor or the jockey wheels. If your drum moves easily without resistance, it’s likely to be the drive belt that needs replacing and you may need an appliance engineer.
My Tumble Dryer Is Noisy
If it’s not a one-off caused by coins or keys, it’s normally caused by faulty bearings, the drum, the pulley wheels or poor placement causing vibrations. Check your dryer is positioned correctly on an even surface before calling an engineer.
My Tumble Dryer Isn’t Heating
There are lots of reasons that your tumble dryer isn’t heating up. It could be a lint blockage, a faulty thermostat or the heating element. If it’s overheating, sometimes all you need to do is simply reset the trip button.
My Tumble Dryer Won’t Start
If your tumble dryer won’t start, double-check the door is closed properly and the fuse hasn’t blown before anything else. If it keeps tripping the electrics, it could be the condenser box getting blocked with lint and debris.

Commonly Asked Tumble Dryer Questions

Is It Worth Repairing A Tumble Dryer?

Most repairmen will suggest you consider the 50% rule.

If the repair price for your dryer is more than 50% of what you paid for it new, and it’s over halfway through its lifespan, then buying a new dryer probably makes the most sense.

How Long Should A Tumble Dryer Last?
This really depends on how much you use it and the type of tumble dryer you buy. They tend to last longer than washing machines so you should expect at least 15 years out of your tumble dryer and longer if you maintain it properly.
How Much Does A Tumble Dryer Cost To Run?
Vented and condenser dryers aren’t cheap to run and average between £60 to £80 a year. Heat pump tumble dryers cost less to use at about £40 per year, although, if you only dry once a week, it will cost about £23 per year.
