This is a common problem and it’s often due to a faulty drive belt, motor or the jockey wheels. If your drum moves easily without resistance, it’s likely to be the drive belt that needs replacing and you may need an appliance engineer.
If it’s not a one-off caused by coins or keys, it’s normally caused by faulty bearings, the drum, the pulley wheels or poor placement causing vibrations. Check your dryer is positioned correctly on an even surface before calling an engineer.
There are lots of reasons that your tumble dryer isn’t heating up. It could be a lint blockage, a faulty thermostat or the heating element. If it’s overheating, sometimes all you need to do is simply reset the trip button.
If your tumble dryer won’t start, double-check the door is closed properly and the fuse hasn’t blown before anything else. If it keeps tripping the electrics, it could be the condenser box getting blocked with lint and debris.
